NON-PREMIUM RATE PHONE NUMBER FOR DOCTORS SURGERY

The doctors surgery have advised the following:

The situation regarding the 08444 number: 

As previously discussed we have approximately two years of our phone contract still to run but have worked hard with the telephone company to try to find a reasonable solution for patients until the end of our current contract. 

  The result is, the phone company have agreed & very recently installed a single line use, with a local 01698 number for patients to call.  There are notices in surgery informing patients of this and also on our Practice website.     When calling the single line the options (ie appointments, prescription etc) are still available and staff will not know what number the patient is calling.  However, as it is a single line if a patient is already on the line when another patient calls the latter patient will receive the engaged tone.  Therefore, if you require a doctor urgently, please do not use the single line but be advised to call the usual surgery number Avon Medical 0844 770 931 or Stonehouse patient- Cander Medical on 08444 778 605.

The local, single line number for both sites is as follows:

We are continuously looking at ways to help patients access surgery services and with this in mind hope to be able to offer patients online booking of GP appointments and also online prescription request in the very near future.  Please check the website for further information during the coming months.  I will of course inform the Community Council of this also.
